Native MN Shrub Planting at Ruffed Grouse WMA

Calendar Happens On Sep 30, 2023
Time 9am-12pm
Expired

Description

Join Great River Greening this fall to plant mast-bearing shrubs good for wildlife per the MnDNR, into a meadow opening at the RGMA. These plantings will provide an important food source for ruffed grouse and other game and non-game wildlife, as well as provide pollinators with another spring source of nectar.

Volunteers will plant the shrubs in pre-dug holes and place cages around them to protect from deer. Mulching and watering will be tasks as well. The site has fairly uneven terrain and about a 3/4 mile walk from the parking area to the work area, however volunteers can be stationed closer to the parking lot upon request.

This is a family-friendly event. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to attend. No previous knowledge or experience is necessary, we will provide the tools and training required.

There will also be light snacks and extra water available, however, please bring your own reusable water bottle and any additional snacks or lunch items you may need.

Once you have registered via GivePulse, organizers from Great River Greening will approve your registration and you will receive confirmation. You will continue to receive event reminders as the event nears.

If you have further questions, please contact Jessica at jdrummond@greatrivergreening.org
