Who We Are

The St. Cloud VA Health Care System is located in central Minnesota in the city of St. Cloud. The city and surrounding communities have a population of more than 100,000 people. St. Cloud is approximately seventy miles northwest of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

The medical center began serving Veterans in 1924 and now delivers care to more than 37,000 Veterans in the upper Midwest region.

Health care services provided include: urgent care, primary, specialty and surgical services, mental health and acute psychiatric care, extended care and rehabilitation services, telemedicine, imaging, laboratory and pharmacy services.

Specialty care services include ambulatory surgery (same-day surgery), audiology, cardiology, dentistry, hematology, oncology, optometry, orthopedics, podiatry, pulmonology, urology and rheumatology.

The medical center offers extensive mental health programming, including acute psychiatric care, Residential Rehabilitation Treatment programs and an outpatient mental health clinic. These programs use evidence-based recovery models to treat mental health conditions and their symptoms, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance misuse. Outpatient programming includes treatment for severe and persistent mental health conditions and offers supportive services such as psychoeducational groups, vocational rehabilitation and supportive employment.

The medical center's Community Living Center (CLC) provides skilled nursing care services to patients needing short and long-term stays. Services provided include rehabilitation through physical, occupational and speech therapies, home-based primary care, adult day health care, ventilator-dependent care, memory care, palliative and end of life care.

What We Do

The St. Cloud VA Health Care System is dedicated to providing exceptional health care to Veterans. We need you to join our team as a volunteer and honor our nation’s Veterans today! Volunteers are needed for various assignments throughout the health care system. The demand for volunteer assistance continues to grow.

We currently have volunteer openings in nearly every area of the campus. Volunteers are needed for escorting patients to and from their appointments, assisting in areas such as the Canteen and Nutrition and Food Services with stocking and sanitizing surfaces, as well as assisting Pharmacy staff with routine pharmaceutical duties and needs. We also have a continued need for Volunteer Drivers and Ambassadors. Volunteer drivers are the connection between Veterans and the care they so greatly deserve. Access to care can be a tremendous barrier for Veterans, especially those residing in rural areas of the state. Volunteer drivers not only fulfill this great need, but they also have the opportunity to visit and interact with our Nation's Heroes!

Volunteer Ambassadors are also needed to assist Veterans with way-finding and navigating their visit while on campus. Ambassadors are often the first friendly face Veterans encounter upon arriving on campus and they play a vital role in providing exemplary customer service.

These volunteer roles offer flexible scheduling, assignment specific training, and an opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to our customers.
