St. Cloud Area Legal Services

We are a non-profit agency dedicated to ensuring that no individual is denied access to our judicial system because they are poor. Our goal is to help eligible clients achieve the maximum self-sufficiency possible by addressing issues related to domestic violence and custody of their children, by helping disabled people obtain needed benefits, and by helping homeless people or people at risk of homelessness obtain or retain shelter. Addressing these critical legal needs, enables people to focus on continuing to implement positive changes in their lives.

The mission of St. Cloud Area Legal Services is to provide high-quality legal representation to low-income people, senior citizens, and low-income farmers ensuring that they are not denied access to the legal system or the rights granted them by local, state, or federal law because of their inability to afford legal representation. St. Cloud Area Legal Services (SCALS) is a non-profit corporation providing legal advice and representation to low-income people and senior citizens. SCALS is a member corporation of Mid-Minnesota Legal Assistance, Inc. Service has been provided to people living in Sherburne, Benton, Stearns, Todd, Morrison, Mille Lacs, Isanti, Chisago, and Wright Counties since 1976. Our office handles civil legal problems such as family, housing, and public benefits cases.
