Volunteer: Readers to Leaders!

The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota is to do whatever it takes to empower all youth to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities: Volunteers are needed to listen to children read or read to children on a one-to-one or small group basis.

Requirements: Volunteers must be patient and comfortable working in an active environment; however reading does take place in a quieter space. Volunteers must be able to relate well with children in a group environment, participate as an active team member with staff and other volunteers, and abide by volunteer policies.

 

Time Commitment:   20 hours over a three month time frame

Southside:

School Year: Thursdays, 3:00-5:00 pm

Summer: Thursdays, 2:00-4:00 pm (this scheduled is also used on non-school days such as Spring Break)


Pleasantview KIDSTOP

School Year: Monday through Friday 3:30-4:30pm

Summer: Monday through Friday 3:30pm-4:30pm


Eastside:

School Year: Wednesdays, 3:00-4:00 pm

Summer: Wednesdays, 3:00-4:00 pm

 

Roosevelt:

School Year: Wednesdays, 2:30-4:30 pm

Summer: Wednesday, 2:00-4:00 pm (this scheduled is also used on non-school days such as Spring Break)

 

Discovery:

School Year: Thursdays, 3:00-5:00 pm

Summer: Thursdays, 2:00-4:00 pm (this scheduled is also used on non-school days such as Spring Break)


Benefits to Volunteers: Volunteers will be provided with training for our literacy programs and on-going staff support regarding relationship building and youth development.

Requirements: Volunteers must be patient and comfortable working in an active environment. Typically we have 50-120 youth at one location. Volunteers must be able to relate well with children in a group environment, participate as an active team member with staff and other volunteers, and abide by volunteer policies.

Hours:

KIDSTOP is open M-F after school hours (school dismissal times vary) until 6 pm and during the summers from 6:30 am to 6 pm.

Clubs are open M-F 2-8pm.
