Performing Arts Internship

Basic Function:    The Performing Arts Intern is responsible for the design and implementation of performing arts programs for several areas of the Boys & Girls Club.  The intern will report to the Eastside Unit Director while in programming at the site.


Internship Responsibilities:

  • Design and facilitate various performing arts programs and activities using BGCA’s DramaMatters curriculum and other curriculum available.
  • Integrate cultural elements into programs.
  • Participate in programs interacting with youth and staff.
  • Promote and stimulate interest in and participation in program activities by both members and volunteers.
  • Network with schools, community, parents and members to keep programs varied and of interest to youth.
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and willing to seek new ideas.
  • Update and add to curriculum in Club’s Resource library.
  • Will know and use positive youth guidance techniques including, but not limited to, positive role modeling and positive discipline.
  • Work to achieve the mission of the organization.
  • Able to job shadow other staff at Boys & Girls Clubs.



  • Knowledge and experience in performing arts.
  • Demonstrates ability to relate well with children in a Boys & Girls Club environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with youth and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Willingness to work as a team member.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.


Program Hours Available:

School Year Hours: Club: 1 PM to 9 PM Monday-Friday                     

                           KIDSTOP: 2 PM to 6 PM Monday-Friday


Summer Hours:     Club: 10 PM to 6 PM Monday-Friday      

                          KIDSTOP: 7 AM to 6 PM Monday-Friday

                          (somewhere in that time frame)

*Intern schedule will vary depending on site need and intern availability


*** A stipend in the amount of $300 will be allotted to those interns able to complete 30 hours per week for a semester.
