Inclusion Specialist Internship

Basic Function:       Inclusion Specialist Intern provides support to members with special needs to ensure their success in the KIDSTOP program.


Internship Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that members with special needs are modeling appropriate behavior that is in-line with KIDSTOP expectations.
  • Ability to effectively deescalate destructive situations in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Participates as an active, positive team member with supervisor, other staff, volunteers and members.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
  • Plans and leads special programs and/or events at site.
  • Responsible for care and maintenance of program equipment, supplies and facility including clean up and proper use.
  • Work to achieve the mission of the organization.
  • Able to job shadow other staff at Boys & Girls Clubs.



  • Demonstrated ability in programming for youth of all ages.
  • Prior training in child development/guidance is required.
  • Prior experience working with children with special needs.
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and mobile when supervising groups of children.
  • Must demonstrate maturity and good decision-making and be aware of good personal boundaries.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with youth and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.


Program Hours Available:

School Year Hours:           KIDSTOP: 2 PM to 6 PM Monday-Friday


Summer Hours:               KIDSTOP: 7 AM to 6 PM Monday-Friday

                                     (somewhere in that time frame)

*Intern schedule will vary depending on site need and intern availability


***A stipend in the amount of $300 will be allotted to those interns able to complete 300 or more hours during the course of the semester.
