ARISE (A Recreational Inclusion Support Endeavor)

Who We Are

The mission of ARISE is to provide support for children with disabilities in the St. Cloud area so they can access recreational activities with their peers. ARISE has been providing services since December of 1989. It was originally called the Vinland Project. Each year ARISE provides support for around 100 children with disabilities in our communities. We average about 4000 hours of direct service time to children each year. ARISE is a sponsored program of District 742 Community Education and is funded in part by United Way of Central MN.

What We Do

ARISE provides inclusion facilitators and/or interpreters for children with disabilities who need assistance to participate in activities outside of their school day with their non-disabled peers. The support is tailored to the child's individual needs. Children with disabilities can choose from a wide variety of activities offered in our communities in Central MN. They can be on a team at their school, join Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, take lessons in swimming, dance, gymnastics, karate, particpate in drama, volunteer in the community, etc. All it takes is a call to ARISE and the coordinators will walk the family through the process. Parents do not pay a fee for the services from ARISE.
