Day of Caring 2017

United Way of Central Minnesota will be hosting Day of Caring on September 21, 2017.

Day of Caring is designed to bring people together to volunteer on community projects. This is a great opportunity to volunteer with co-workers, friends, family, and service groups for your community through a variety of projects and needs.

The day will begin with a kick-off breakfast from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. at the Waite Park Community Park Pavilion, 151 13th Ave N, Waite Park.

Volunteers will be provided with a breakfast during the kick-off and a free t-shirt (t-shirts can be picked up Thursday, September 14 at the United Way office and worn on Day of Caring.) Volunteers will pcik up lunches at the breakfast located at the Waite Park Pavillion. The Team Leader will pick up all lunches for the group.

Notes: 

Team Registration As a Team Leader, you will need to collect the t-shirt sizes of your team members as well as breakfast, lunch RSVP's and distribute the volunteer agreement form to complete your registration. Once you receive the confirmation email, please use the link in the email, click the red MANAGE button on the lower right to enter names, emails, and additional information.


You will receive an email confirming your registration (send.galaxydigital.com). These emails sometimes will go into your spam folder.

Deep clean kitchen and Dining Room

September 21 at 9am-1pm

Our shelter serves 3-5 meals per day to 36 women and children each day.  That keeps us very busy!  We could use some deep cleaning in these areas of our shelter.  Volunteers would wipe down appliances, wash walls and windows, cupboards, baseboards, tables, chairs, and highchairs.

Holdingford Flower Garden Clean-Up

You will be working with members of the Holdingford Pedals to Petals Garden Club to clear the end-of-the-year flowers and prepare the garden for winter. This is a small-medium plot located on Main Street Holdingford (about 15 miles northwest of St. Cloud). The plot is located on the Lake Wobegon Trail which provides you with an opportunity to walk the trail afterwards and enjoy the fall colors.

Husky Neighborhood Clean-Up

September 21 at 1pm-4pm
By: St. Cloud State University Civic Engagement Program

The Civic Engagement Program: * helps organize volunteer opportunities * serves as a clearinghouse of information * works to promote academic service-learning * strives to build strong relations between the university and the larger St. Cloud community.

Projects to do on Thursday, September 21st from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Atwood Memorial Center and Barden Park will include:

Outside Project (accommodate 150-200 people):

  • Husky neighborhood clean-up! Bags, gloves, maps, hand sanitizer, and bug spray will be provided. Volunteers will be assigned areas to clean around and near the St. Cloud State Campus. Liability waivers avialable. Those under 18 need to be accompanied by a gaurdian.

Work in the Garden at St. Benedict's Monastery
